Souvenirs and Treats (Girl No. I), 2017

A C-type photographic print produced exclusively for BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art to coincide with the exhibition of Jasmina Cibic, This Machine Builds Nations (9th February - 28th May 2018).

The photographic print has an edition of only 10 and highlights the influences of Slovenian artist, Jasmina Cibic (b. 1979) including art, architecture and how political rhetoric are deployed and instrumentalised in the name of the nation. Working in multi-layered artistic mediums - performance, film and installation - Cibic has produced a site specific piece for BALTIC incorporating a trio of films, Nada, as an ongoing performative practice which look at how three modernist architects' work played a part in forming national representation in decisive moments of European history.
