George Shaw is a Turner Prize nominated artist known for his suburban paintings, his naturalistic style and use of Humbrol enamel paints in his work. He was born in Coventry in 1966 and his work reflects his surroundings growing up in the Tile Hill area in the 1970's with images of the mundane and everyday, along with the power of nature we're surrounded by, which have struck a resonance with the viewer provoking memories of childhood and the past. The Call of Nature combines both of these themes with the juxtaposition of the beauty of the tree against the uncomfortable reality of the man's call of nature.
